A friend of mine found a Victory Medal in a hedge last week, it is very worn and he can only make out the the name..

" I Found this in a hedge row in a place called

Saighton, which is on the outskirts of Chester England. I Can only make out "te H SMALLWOOD" Can you find out anything about him?"

I know there is not much info, he will try to make out the Regt and number.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thank you

Dean

Dean

There are 13 Pte H Smallwoods on the National Archive Website so any number/part number will help to narrow it down

Ironic for a small wood to be found in a hedge. You'd normally expect it to be the other way around.

Possible Scenario - Medals stolen many years ago. Silver BWM kept , "worthless" VM thrown into hedge ? Perhaps a Star is somewhere in the hedge as well !
