Substantive Lance Coproral

Hi,

I think I may have asked a similar question some time ago regarding the process of being appointed an acting, unpaid lance corporal or other NCO, the answer being that this would be decided on a fairly "ad hoc" basis, depending upon a variety of circumstances.

One step further on from this question - If a soldier was appointed Lance Corporal, and this was a substantive appointment or promotion (if another type of NCO), what kind of record keeping would go into this beyond the serviceman's service record - and of course, does any such documentation remain? Just where could one start looking for records of this kind of appointment - if anywhere?
