Matt Dixon Posted 23 April , 2005 Author Share Posted 23 April , 2005 Why on earth didn't I think of that? Sometimes the obvious only hits you when someone points it out to you! Many thanks Stupid of Birmingham
CROONAERT Posted 23 April , 2005 Share Posted 23 April , 2005 A true believer - a moslem. Phil B <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ..and also a race of people originating in an area of the Punjab (who, as it happens, are probably 90% muslim, but not necessarily so.) (By the way, "Dogras" are another race originating in North East Kashmir. The 41st Dogras had four "Dogra" companies , so this man would possibly have been noticably "different" from many of his comrades) Dave.
Matt Dixon Posted 24 April , 2005 Author Share Posted 24 April , 2005 That figures Dave, there were 3 headstones in a row: "A Hindu Soldier" "A Sikh soldier" and "A Mussalman soldier". I suppose religous differences could all be forgotten in death.

Captain Dave Posted 26 April , 2005 Share Posted 26 April , 2005 For more info, there was a good thread ref Indian soldiers in France a few months ago. Also the book "Sepoys in the Trenches" gives a very readable insight into the history of Indian forces in France 1914 - 1915.
