I am looking for more information about the following personal of the 3rd Canadian CCS at Remy Siding in May 1916, both doctors and nursing sisters. Included in the War Diary extract below. I have found a photograph of Acting Matron Hare meeting the King on a visit to Remy Siding in August 1916- IWM.

One more for you David,

There is a marvelous site called https://www.silverhawkauthor.com/post/canadian-nursing-sisters-in-the-first-world-war

Approximately 2/3 rds of the way down, (it is quite a long page) there is a picture of Nursing Sister H. Corelli, standing next to Matron J. Stronach, ca 1918.

Corelli could be your NS from the WD?

The picture won't screenshot. Edit; but the preview picture on google search will.

I presume she is on the left?

Hi David

A search of the Canadian archives may help. For example, the service file for acting matron Hare appears to be here (click on the  'pdf' button,  then the download icon to get the full 42 page file). There's one for 400333 Drew too (88 pages). I didn't search for the other names.

Regards
Chrisw

Thanks, Bob.

Struggling with a word in the same war diary.

Second line- ‘new ? Hut well underway…’ the same word appears towards the end of the paragraph, ‘the half finished ?’

Hi David,

from looking at the handwriting on this page and on the OP, it looks to start with a capital 'F'.

image.pngThis reads No 10 F. a. or number 10 Field ambulance.

This reads  Col. Foster from your original W.D. page.

image.png

I am seeing 'Funeran'. image.png

Is that a military term for Funeral, does it originate in India or elsewhere?

I could be on totally the wrong track.

@Michelle Young is a dab hand at 'Doctors hand writing' if I may call upon you to help please?

Edit here; It could be 'Funerary'.

The tail of the letter 'y' being lost in the margin line.

It mentions "mortuary" further down, so IMO not funeral-related.

Still no idea, though...

I agree- a mortuary hut is mentioned. I read Faveran Hut- but cannot find any reference for this.
