I have taken a gravestone photo where the "rank" indicated is "boy"

what was exactly a boy in the british army ?

a very joung man who does some tasks to help the sodiers , for exemple to transport messages ? is it correct ?

Morning

A Boy soldier in the British Army is usually one who is under the age of 18. There were normally drummers or buglers & in the field they would be used to transport messages etc.
