Private 4290 Walter Mason.

10th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers. 

Military Medal. 1916.

Any info please much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. His MIC  shows he was also Labour Corps, suggesting he was not fit to continue serving in the LF. . He received the Silver War badge.

His Labour Corps number, 369049, was in a block of numbers (364700 to around 388200) that were issued between September to November 1917 (courtesy of 'No Labour, No Battle' by Starling and Lee)

Wigan Examiner 26.1.1917.

Pte 4290 Walter Mason. Lancashire Fusiliers. (Wigan.)
has been awarded the Military Medal for bravery and devotion to duty in the field. He enlisted in August 1914 and is at present in hospital in Rouen suffering from wounds in the back and leg. Pte Mason is 44 years of age and his wife and seven children reside at 17 Yates St, off Miry lane. Prior to enlisting he was employed at the Bamfurlong collieries.

MM LG: 11.10.1916.
