Barney74 Posted 25 April Share Posted 25 April I'm researching Musa Bede, a Gunner in the 1st Battery, Nigeria Regiment (Artillery). From his MIC, I know he served in Cameroon, arriving on 29 September 1914, when the 1st Battery disembarked at Bonaberi. I'd love to know more about him if anyone can help. Tawhiri Posted 25 April Share Posted 25 April The National Army Museum apparently hold several of his other medals, dating from the inter-war period, having acquired them in 1994. From their online inventory: Royal West African Frontier Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, George V type, awarded to Gnr Musa Bede, Nigeria Regiment Artillery, 1930 (c). https://collection.nam.ac.uk/inventory/objects/results.php?shortDescription=&event=&campaign=&associatedName=musa+bede&unit=&placeNotes=&productionNotes=&keyword=&otArc=1&ot[]=6&ot[]=8&ot[]=10&ot[]=12&ot[]=13&otArt=1&ot[]=1&ot[]=39&ot[]=14&ot[]=15&ot[]=16&ot[]=17&ot[]=18&ot[]=19&otBmu=1&ot[]=21&ot[]=20&ot[]=38&ot[]=23&otEqt=1&ot[]=26&ot[]=2&ot[]=22&ot[]=27&ot[]=28&ot[]=40&ot[]=29&ot[]=30&ot[]=32&otWea=1&ot[]=24&ot[]=3&ot[]=4&ot[]=31&otVA=1&ot[]=25&ot[]=33&flag=

That's helpful. If he received the RWAFF LS&GC medal in 1930 and the required length of service for eligibility at that time was 18 years, then this would mean he enlisted in 1912 and also that he not only saw service in Cameroon but served with the Regiment in the East African campaign too. Barney74 Posted 27 April Author Share Posted 27 April I looked up the RWAFF LS&GC Medal Roll for 1930 but could not find 83 GNR MUSA BEDE listed. What am I missing?
