GraemeClarke Posted 20 April Share Posted 20 April Hi Researching Captain John Arthur RIchards KiA 4 December 1918. I have the WD for this date but I fear it is incomplete. I think I have a page missing. Does anyone please have any report of the attack for this date which may give a hint of what befell Richards. Many thanks, Graeme
Chris_Baker Posted 20 April Share Posted 20 April November, obvs. Not a terribly detailed diary entry for the Landrecies action.
Brian J Owen Posted 20 April Share Posted 20 April Hi Graeme, not sure if you have Googled Captain Joseph Richards, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, but there's a little bit about him on there, hope this helps, Regards, Brian
GraemeClarke Posted 21 April Author Share Posted 21 April Morning Both, Many thanks for the replies. Chris; I do have that WD entry, thanks, however I'm trying to find if there is any report on the attack which mentions Richards. Chris_Baker Posted 21 April Share Posted 21 April Ah, I see. I have battalion, brigade and division diaries so I'll take a look when I am back on the old laptop later today.
Chris_Baker Posted 21 April Share Posted 21 April Graeme, I am sorry to say that the battalion and division diaries are both rather poor. The narrative that the division diary mentions being attached as an appendix is not present. It is likely that it is the good, detailed narrative that is attached to the brigade diary (WO95/2249). Sadly, though, even that makes no mention of anyone by name.
GraemeClarke Posted 22 April Author Share Posted 22 April Morning Chris, Many thanks for taking the time an trouble to look for me, appreciate it, I find it odd a Captain's death is not recorded. Regards, Graeme
