Is the uniform in this picture a WW1 british army uniform? I'm  asking because I don't know if this is my GG Grandfather Frederick Walter West who fought in WW1 or his son John Thomas West.20240418_163408.jpg.6ccea9892faab46793928d9630900f34.jpg

Hi Evandarcy,

Welsh Guards man, wearing a '1937 pattern' webbing belt so that puts a certain date on the picture.

After 1937. So probably his son.

His father died in 1918, but his son was raised in Ireland. Was there any sort of armies in Waterford, Ireland. He lived from 1910-1951.

I am no expert on that period.

So a date of around 1928 0nwards if he was 18 or over at the time the picture was taken.

You must be aware that this period of time is off limits for the Great War Forum.

Sorry for that, regards, Bob.

The uniform is obviously post Great War, so off topic. Members are free to carry on the conversation via pm.
