Harzer Posted 15 April Share Posted 15 April Hi, just got an interesting P1907 made by Remington in 1915 and traveled through the wars to India, There it became the last finish as a MKI**in 1956. The blued finish is a pretty extreme brilliant blue. Is this normal for the FTRs in India? I saw some of them but not as brilliant. on the blade is a very small marking. left of the Remington circle, could this be an Ashoka marking made in 1956? Thanks a lot Thomas
Harzer Posted 16 April Author Share Posted 16 April Does some one could tell me whether the inspection marks IA below the Cypher are from India or are they still made in England?
AndyBsk Posted 16 April Share Posted 16 April IA is mostly a origin proof in Remington factory from english inspector, the piece was refurbished evidently in 1919, when he got the cleaning hole in pommel. I assume here are much skilled experts about P1907.

Thanks a lot Thomas Yes they are quite famous and completely normal- a very large batch was sold a number of years ago on the open market. The blueing and polishing resulted in an almost electric blue colour I have seen many- all are in excellent condition- interestingly all I’ve seen (maybe 20-30) are all FR56 MkII**- unsure the circumstances of production- I’ll check the books if interested it seems like the whole batch went to storage kind regards g Edited 21 April by navydoc16
