French Kepi

Good evening 

I was wondering if I could tap into the expertise available. I have a Polo style French officers kepi with Navy blue body less than 7cm wide, red top, Hungarian knot with goldy/silver chin strap and rank (Lieutenant) rank bars etc. The buttons are also silvery without motif. On the face of it it looks standard infantry and in some light the braids looks gold/ silver. 
the numerals look standard infantry.

Any thoughts ?

this Kepi is for the Cavalry unit : 18ème Régiment de Dragon

the "grelot" button type is for Dragon.

The braids and chin strap on your kepi are white, typical for dragoon regiments.

while for infantry regiments like mine are yellow.

i am pleased to have a cavalry one. I have put it on my 18th Infantry Regiment jacket just for the effect.
