Whilst researching  i read that this battalion was nevercin France but on ceremonial duties but i see some soldiers from this battalion were killed in france during passchendale.

I presume  they were sent or volunteered  i would be if someone could explain  the  situation to me thanks

Quite often soldiers were attached to another battalion or even regiment.

From 'The Long, Long, Trail' ---

5th (Reserve) Battalion
Formed at Victoria Barracks in Windsor during August 1914 as 4th (Reserve) Battalion.
14 July 1915 : redesignated as 5th (Reserve) Battalion.

As a reserve battalion, men would be sent overseas to replace men lost in other battalions of the Coldstream Guards.

And Passchendaele (3rd battle of Ypres) is in Belgium rather than France.
