adk46canada Posted 10 April Share Posted 10 April An esoteric question but hopefully an expert out there can help me with. Over the winter of 1916/17, the Canadian Corps added a dedicated GSO II (Training) officer at the corps' headquarters to focus on training. This was part of the much larger program of transformation the corps underwent over the winter. I assume a similar position was added to British corps, but I have not been able to confirm this. Harris' thesis does have a numbers but not their assignments. The Canadians tended to have more staff officers than an equivalent British formation with an extra officer at the brigade level and three at the division level.
