What was RAF FLIGHT 804?

Hi Guys

I am researching a pilot who served with Seaplane Flight 404 and later temporarily commanded RAF 251 Squadron in 1918. In the middle of all

this it is mentioned in his record a Flight 804. I have seen references to flights in the 400, 500 series for the WWI period but have not seen

anything for 800's.  Any clue ??? Likely related to seaplanes, special flights and coastal patrol duties. There may be some connection to experimental

flights for aircraft carriers???

Thanks

Ken

Hi Ken,

It might be a typo?

504 (Special Duty) Flight was formed on 31 May 1918 at Atwick, with D.H.6 within No. 251 Squadron, according to Sturtivant/Page's Naval Serials book.

504 rather than 804 would therefore make sense in the context of a 251 Squadron reference.

Hi Airshipped

Thanks for the information. Yes, this makes perfect sense.
