Remembered Today:

Webley Mark 1 revolver with a 6 digit serial?

Hello, this is my first post on this forum. I thought it would be the most appropriate place to ask my question.

I have found a Webley mark 1 as marked on the left side of the frame with a "Mark V" barrel attached to it. I figured this would be marked with a ** next to the mark 1 but its not. The serial numbers on the barrel and cylinder are 3 digit matching and the serial number on the frame is 6 digits (the last 3 digits on the serial match the barrel/cylinder). I also found this odd because I thought mark 1 serial numbers went into the 41000 range.

There are no naval service markings present on the revolver.

Could  the "Mark V" barrel be an aftermarket customization? Or is it perhaps a mark 5 with a mark 1 frame meant for commercial use? Thanks for any input
