Allan1892 Posted 3 April Share Posted 3 April Just received the quarterly e-newsletter from the Northumberland and Durham Family History Society and it included an update on the digitising of service records held by the MOD:- NEWS The National Archives has announced that records held by the MOD including Second World War service personnel records will be digitised by subscription site Ancestry. The records will go online between 2024 and 2029. Previously, all British Military service records dating from after 1920 including records of men and women who served in the Second World War were held by the MOD. At the moment, records of deceased servicemen and women can only be ordered by their next of kin for a £30 fee.
