Scott9096 Posted 2 April Share Posted 2 April Good evening, We have recently been going down the rabbit hole that is the family history. We have come across one naval record so far and was wondering if there is someone out there who can explain what we have. I’ve looked into some of the information and found out some details such as HMS Pembroke 2 not technically being a ship. Some of the writing is a bit hard to read so I was hoping that someone who might been able to dictate it a bit. Thanks in advance for any help you can give
BillyH Posted 2 April Share Posted 2 April (edited) I suspect they are all training establishments/shore bases except for HMS 'Offa' but this is one for @horatio2 BillyH. Edited 2 April by BillyH

horatio2 Posted 3 April Share Posted 3 April After initial training as a stoker, based in his ‘home’ barracks at Chatham (HMS PEMBROKE), he was drafted to the depot ship HMS GREENWICH as a supernumerary. GREENWICH was based in Scapa Flow and parented the destroyers of 14th Destroyer Flotilla. On 21 October 1916 he was drafted to one of those boats, HMS OFFA, and served in her until he was demobilised in February 1919. After the Armistice, on 1 December 1918, OFFA was transferred to 1st Destroyer Flotilla based at Portsmouth on the books of HMS VICTORY X, a shore pay office.
