burlington Posted 21 April , 2005 Share Posted 21 April , 2005 I am looking for any records about Olive Margaret Trace (nee Smith) who was from the UK and who survived WW1. I think that she may have been a nurse, VAD or ambulance driver and would be about 20 during the war. I have looked at the National Archive site but can't find anything on line. Likewise the Queen Alexandras site. Anybody got any ideas? I know this is very much a long shot. There is a very romantic story attached to this. Boy meets girl in WW1, they part and meet again in WW2. Martin
Sue Light Posted 21 April , 2005 Share Posted 21 April , 2005 Martin There is a file at TNA for a member of Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve called Olive Smith in WO399/7750. However, if your estimate of her age is correct this can't be the right person - she would have had to be at least 25 years of age. If she was a VAD it might be worth trying the Red Cross for personnel records at: British Red Cross VAD Records Sue
