Were they firing in an attempt to destroy ammunition dumps, stores, dugouts etc?

If the WD doesn't specifically mention being located at Glencorse Wood then I'd suspect an error in the map reference, and there is a difference between the reference you mention and the pin on the map.

William, there is a detailed thread on this position that you originated and it contains the plotted positions you told us the battery was located.  Why create another thread to question the answers to your first post?

The correct map coordinates for 321 Sge Bty for 22.05.1917 are:

Sheet 28 I14a.50.70 NOT 'J'

And from 22.06.1917 it was:

Sheet 28 I19d.3.3 (Bde HQ ((66 HAG)) was at Sheet 28 H15a.5.5 and only took part in the attack on Glencorse Wood on 20.09.1917)

I felt like it was a different subject that was drifting away from the original subject that was narrowed down to S.F. Betts. Thank you for merging.

They do not really say the type of target, only location.

Sorry, I misplaced the mark (but it was quite close).

Thank you very much ! That makes much more sense and puts them in a location that works ! But that "I" really looks like a "J"...

I now have the 3 locations they were in before getting moved to Arras.
