Seven Sopwith Triplanes were lost up to 23 August 1917, but none on the 23rd:

09-Aug-1917, Flt Sub-Lieut Keith Ross Munro (Kia), 10 Sqn RNAS, Triplane N6290 - Ltn d R Wolfgang Güttler, Jasta 24, 4th victory [Eesen - east of Dixmuiden]

10-Aug-1917, Flt Sub-Lieut Edward Duncan Crundall (Wia), 8 Sqn RNAS, Triplane N5449 - anti-aircraft fire

14-Aug-1917, Flt Sub-Lieut Seisyllt Hugh Lloyd (Kia), 10 Sqn, RNAS, Triplane N536 - hit by A.A. near Zillebeke Lake and last seen going west under heavy fire on OP

16-Aug-1917, Flt Sub-Lieut Alan Theodore Gray (Kia), 1 Sqn RNAS, Triplane N6304 - last seen over Ypres, shot down in Zillebeke Lake, Ltn Gisbert-Wilhelm Groos, Jasta 11, 4th victory  Zillebeke Lake]

20-Aug-1917, Flt Sub-Lieut Charles Haddon Weir (Pow; Dow 21-Aug-17), 10 Sqn RNAS, Triplane N5355 - Ltn d R Josef Carl Peter Jacobs, Jasta 7, 6th victory [Ramskapelle] ?

21-Aug-1917, Flt Sub-Lieut Frank Concanen Lewis (Kia), 1 Sqn RNAS, Triplane N6308 - shot down in combat east of Ploegsteert Wood on COP, Hptm Otto Hartmann, Jasta 28, 7th victory [Terhand]

21-Aug-1917, Flt Sub-Lieut Cecil Lowther (Kia), 10 Sqn RNAS, Triplane N5425 - last seen going down out of control Menin after combat at 14,000 feet, Ltn Ernst Hess, Jasta 28, not confirmed
