Remembered Today:

Leonard Pickering Next of Kin

Hello,

I have been doing some research on my great great grandfather, and I have found this service record which has the same name, birthday, country, and employment as him. The only thing that makes me question if it isn't him is his Next of Kin being a Mrs G Pickering (mother). My great great grandfathers parents were George and Mary Pickering, but is there any chance that they could've made a mistake, or was it him that wrote it all down? If so would there be any reason for him to lie? His full service records are in the linked page, or you can find them by searching Leonard Pickering on collections.archives.govt.nz .

 Thanks

James

Married women were referred to as (for example ) Mrs George Pickering. My gran said that only when widowed would they return to being Mrs Mary Pickering.
