PaulC78 Posted 20 March Share Posted 20 March Hi folks, can anyone assist with this case? Pte Archibald Breden (or Bredin), 20046 The King's (Liverpool Regiment), enlisted on 07/09/1914, served in France from 04/09/1915, discharged with Silver War Badge on 05/06/1918. He died on 23/04/1920, cause of death was purulent bronchitis and "old gunshot wound in chest": (Source: Fold3) Death certificate does not elaborate further on the GSW. He is buried at Kirkdale Cemetery in LIverpool: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/255860118/archibald-breden It's not clear from the photos, but the relevant part of the inscription reads: Also Archibald, son of the above / and beloved husband of Annie BREDEN, / who died through wounds received in action, / April 23rd 1920, aged 36 years. / "Duty nobly done." Unfortunately, there is no service record, and the pension cards are not particuarly helpful. The only corroborating evidence I can find for wounds in service is the following list from the Liverpool Post on 03/11/1916: (Source: FindMyPast) Is anyone able to find additional evidence to support this case? Pinging @davidbohl and @Promenade in case they can help.
