I'm trying to discover anything about the time Francis James Flinton spent in the Lincolnshire Regiment 2 bn during WW1. I know he died on 17/6/1918 and is buried in the Cologne Southern Cemetery but haven't been able to find out anything else.

Welcome to GWF

His Regimental Number appears to have been 42887, Lincolnshire Regt.

CWGC https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/901480/francis-james-flinton Son of Sarah Ann Flinton, of 9, Avenue Rd., Retford, Notts., and the late Thomas Flinton.

There are pension records at WFA/Fold3 - his mother received a pension of 5/- pw from 11.3.19 for life [same address as CWGC]

The pension records indicate he died of Sickness, PofW

Welcome to the Forum

Died as a PoW from complications arising from a shattered left thigh - probably sustained from some action his unit was involved.
