I have not been able to find out what he did while serving in WWI

having retired in 1911 he served in the War and is listed in Hart but where and how?

any info appreciated 

other details as follows

Lt. Colonel James Rocheld Forrest, MD., MRCS., LSA., DPH

Royal Army Medical Corps

He was born 2nd September 1856 at 4 Sumner Terrace, Kensington, London and was the son of David and Williamine Forrest. His father was an actuary and manager of British Guarantee Association

He was educated at Kensington Grammar School and London University. He trained at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and on qualifying remained as a demonstrator in Zoology.

In 1884 he was elected honorary secretary of the Association of the Members of the Royal College of Surgeons

He was commissioned Surgeon 1884; Surgeon Major 1897; Lt Colonel 1905; retired 1911

He served with the Sudan Expedition 1885 and saw action at Suakin (medal with clasp and Khedive’s  Bronze Star); Malta garrison 1891-93; served on the North West Frontier 1897-98 in the Tirah expedition force 1897 (medal 2 clasps);

He served again in WWI.

He married Lilla née Semple, (1862-1955) 17th October in St. Saviour’s Church, Redlands, Bristol and was the father of Henry, Alice, Charles, Edward, David and James.

He died 22nd January 1937, aged 80, at St. Leonard’s Hospital, Bathampton, Somerset

He was a Freemason and member of Yeatman Biggs Lodge, Calcutta 2672

He wrote, “The Soldier’s Life and How to Preserve it”. 1896

Hi

According to the 1920 Officers War Service book he is listed as only serving OS in Sudan and NWF, no list of WW1 service

There is reference to him rejoining but at his age may be he was just on the list.

He appears in the November 1918 Army list as a retired officer temporarily employed from 3 December 1914.

Terry Reeves.   I had read the Malta Garrison page, that is where I picked up the reference,that he served in WWI.

it could be civilian or Red Cross.
