Admin Michelle Young Posted 11 March Admin Share Posted 11 March I think I may have muddied the waters, @Derek65597 didn’t name his relation, and I just took the name off the top of the sheet when I renamed the thread. I think we’re actually looking at Sapper Allen. When we get confirmation, I will rename the thread. Apologies.

brianmorris547 Posted 11 March Share Posted 11 March Derek 65597 Spr G H Allen is named in the Times Official Casualty Lists under Wounded - Royal Engineers 08/01/1916 and 23/12/1916. I no longer have access to the Times Digital Library but it would indicate that he was wounded in November 1915 and again in November 1916. The casualty list that you have posted, HA 33051, is not on our Index (See "Other" Forum - Casualty Lists). I will include it. Brian
Derek65597 Posted 11 March Author Share Posted 11 March Thank you Brian can you tell me who created the document ? And any thoughts on Co he is with at this point?
brianmorris547 Posted 11 March Share Posted 11 March There are two hospital admissions for him. One in 1915 and one in 1916. On both occasions he was serving with 78 Field Company of 17 Division. My notes tell me that some other ranks are named in the War Diary. The hospital admissions are in what is known as Series MH/106 (See the Long Long Trail). MH 106/69 is 51 Field Ambulance 22/12/1915. MH 106/81 - 51 Field Ambulance 10/07/1916 transferred to 34 Casualty Clearing Station same day. MH 106/689 34 CCS Injury I C T Right Leg. In addition he is named on Royal Engineers Casualty List C/710 sheet 1, which is about his admission to 51 FA on 22/12/1915. I have posted HA 33051 and C/710 sheet 1 on the Casualty Lists thread. (See Forum "Other") Sorry to overwhelm you but we will take it bit by bit at your leisure. Please feel free to ask. Brian
