DavoT Posted 10 March Share Posted 10 March G'day all, I have been doing some research on a couple of young lads who were serving in the above Battery and were KIA on 27 Jun 1917. I'm just after some confirmation that it was equipped with 18 Pounders! Cheers and thanks in advance. David
battiscombe Posted 10 March Share Posted 10 March I believe A/15, 52nd and 80th Batteries were 18pdrs and D/15 was the 4.5 howitzer battery
David Porter Posted 10 March Share Posted 10 March A/15 was previously A/300 with half B/300 (6 guns) which were originally from 2/5th London Brigade RFA (TF). It joined the 15th Brigade RFA on January 21, 1917.
DavoT Posted 10 March Author Share Posted 10 March Hi guys, thanks heaps for the information which fits in perfectly. Both lads have the new numbers 950716 and 950848 with mention of their RFA (TF) numbers 1891 and 2115 respectively. I have the medals to A/Bombardier John William Sullivan and during the research I found that Gunner Arthur John Hill belonged to the same battery and was killed on the same day. They actually lie side by side in Roclincourt Military Cemetery. Both only 21 years old
