Stevend Posted 1 March Share Posted 1 March This soldier died of wounds on 9th December 1914..very early in the war. I am trying to ascertain where he would have been with his battalion roughly in the line. I am aware he could have been wounded several days before he died. But any help is greatly appreciated

Lee Smart Posted 28 March Share Posted 28 March The diary shows before 9th Dec One man was wounded on 27th November, another wounded and one killed on 2nd Dec…’could be one of those two unless he died a long time after wounding. Diary shows they were in the Rear area of ‘Varennes’ between their stints in the front line, near ‘Toutrent Farm’ (difficult to discern the handwriting here), taking turn about with the ‘Rifle Brigade’. -which is possibly where your man was wounded - you might be able to get his Medical Record from the Highlanders Museum (if it is one of the records available) which would give you and indication of when he was wounded.
