Exactly what are you looking for? It would appear that he survived the war and was awarded the 1914/15 Star Medal the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. His service record has not survived.

just to clear up.

M2/100527 

Mic gives to France 25-8-1915  discharged to the reserve class z 6-9-1919. the M2 was for Mechanical Transport.

only one Alfred Joseph Ashby showing up on census 1901 or 1911 Joseph Alfred Ashby from around the Toddington, Bedfordshire area. My only concern is his birth date given as abt 1863. would have put him around 50 at the start of the war. May have to open up possibilities of just Alfred or Joseph.
