RNCVR Posted 28 February Share Posted 28 February @C.Leason From what little is shown of his ADM 188 - he was passed for ARMOURER 12 Feb 1909. Entry following to faint for me to read, be nice if you attached a larger copy!

horatio2 Posted 28 February Share Posted 28 February His RN service was 1903 to early 1914 when, rated Armourer's Mate 346589, he purchased his discharge. That service was all pre-WW1 so not for this Forum.. He then (Feb 1915) enlisted for short service in the RMA (RMA/647(S)) from which, as a Staff Sergeant, he was given a Temporary RMA commission. He was employed as a workshop and MT officer in the BEF, France. Do you have all his records from TNA? If not, here are the links:- Armourer RN - https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D6783500 (ADM 188) Motor mechanic RMA - https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7794101 (ADM 159 Temporary Officer RMA - https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D8117423 (ADM 196)
C.Leason Posted 28 February Author Share Posted 28 February I have records of which ships he was on up until 1914. My initial query was on the other records we found as to what a temp commission was which was kindly answered.
