DavoT Posted 26 February Share Posted 26 February I'm currently researching a RAMC soldier - 20270 Private Thomas James COLES, 1/CCS. Just a query regarding the 1st Cape Command Signals! What does this unit represent with the RAMC? I've never come across it before Any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, David

DavoT Posted 26 February Author Share Posted 26 February Hi Steve, Yes I'm aware of 1st (No 1) Casualty Clearing Station but was wondering about the 1st Cape Command Signals which is mentioned in some of the info I have. His MIC states 1.C.C.S. RAMC. Early arrival in France - 19 August 1914. David

RAMC, that is going to be No. 1 Casualty Clearing Station and is supported by his service record which survives in part. The 1st Cape Command Signals notation appears to be a NA transcription “error” of 1.C.C.S. Steve

I did a quick search too and Cape Command Signals does get a few hits. David Edited 26 February by DavoT
