Please could you help with ID of this shell?

From Le Tommy in Pozieres, France 

It’s approx 75mm x 200mm long

It looks similar in design and size to a 6-pounder tank shell, but the ones I have seen are more pointy at the sharp end.

I’m fairly confident that’s not a WWI projectile.

I think it may be a WWII US 75mm M61 AP shot that has been fired and has lost it’s ballistic caps.

Yes, possibly the APCBC/T variant, originally with a small base tracer instead of a fuze and small bursting charge. There was an M72 as well, but it was boat-tailed - though it seems doubtful that would've made a noticeable improvement in its performance.

Piercing shot of this calibre range and profile were not much used by land armies in WW1, although well established in naval use.
