ToddC19D Posted 24 February Share Posted 24 February Hello, Can anybody recommend a good source to research this schirmmutze? I have searched online and cannot find another one listed anywhere. There are several listed that are nearly identical but they all have colored piping around the crown of the cap. I believe this schirmmutze is pre Ww1 and the cockade represents Wurttemberg, Germany. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in this matter. Thank you, Todd C

charlie2 Posted 24 February Share Posted 24 February I don‘t think it is military, have you researched the civilian bodies such as the Post, Railways etc? Charlie

GreyC Posted 24 February Share Posted 24 February (edited) I think he was neither with Eisenbahn/railway nor Post/mail. Both would probably mean additional insignia on the cap (like a flying wheel for the railway, an eagle for mail e.g.) For me it´s some kind of Beamter or clerk / civil servant.
