DWFA Posted 22 February Share Posted 22 February Researching my family tree, I found a military history sheet for my grandad which in the "Injuries in or by the service" section had the following - "GSW L Foot 31.10.16 Self Inflicted On Duty to blame". I knew he was enlisted in the Bedfordshire Regiment and was later transferred to the Labour Corps but had no idea that he went to France. I always assumed that he was kept home to work in the fields. It seems from the document that he was "Home" from 25.3.16 to 26.8.16 and then in France from 27.8.16. I had no idea that he was wounded in any way and there are no family stories about a self inflicted wound. Would anyone know what "On duty to blame" means. Thanks. Admin Michelle Young Posted 22 February Admin Share Posted 22 February Welcome to the forum, I read this as the wound was self inflicted, whilst on duty, and he was found to be to blame. Perhaps if you care to share the document, and his name, forum members can assist you more. I found this thread on a forum search, which may shed a little light, especially the forms.
