Dave J Burns Posted 21 February Share Posted 21 February I am researching my wife's Grandfathers service in WW1. He enlisted into the 2/6th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment in December 1915 and was transferred to No. 6 Squadron RFC on 12 February 1916 as No. 21134 2AM W H Partridge, posted to 6 Squadron Royal Flying Corps, Base Posted to France to 6 Squadron 1A.D. 20 December 1916. Can anyone advise me what "1AD' means and what he would have been his duties up to 13 December 1918 when he was discharged to the "A" Reserve. Also where this unit served during this period? Thank you in anticipation of your assistance.

Dave J Burns Posted 21 February Author Share Posted 21 February Thank you for that. I am used to researching Army or Navy records of my ancestors and being in my 80s I tend to struggle with the new technology.
