...... likely a telescope front/rear lens cover.  The WD Crowsfoot indicates an issued item rather than a private purchase item.

I'm guessing too -- Perhaps a muzzle cap?

Looks very much like the carrying strap for a signaling telescope tripod stand, there are some images it this thread here……

The covered over cap is from a telescope and the strap and tube end are from the tripod.

This is an early WW2 example of "Tripod, Lamp and Heliograph, A Mk III"  It differs from WW1 versions in several details including using a 1-inch web strap rather than the wider but thinner canvas strap.
