Black Watch Posted 18 February Share Posted 18 February George Rogerson Reg.No. 963 10th Highland Light Infantry entered France 12.5.1915. At some point he was transferred to the 1st Btn Cameronians, Reg. No. 43228. He was KIA 22.9.1916 presumably during the battle of the Somme. Is there any way to find out when he transferred between regiments? I noticed that the 10th HLI amalgamated with the 11th in May 1916, could have been during this re-organisation?. I'd also like to find out where the 1st Cameronians were when he died. I'd also like to know where the Ca

Tom Lang Posted 19 February Share Posted 19 February Pte ROGERSON is (unusually) named (in the right margin) of the Battalion War Diary as one of those Killed that day. I'm attaching a copy of that page from the War Diary (courtesy of The National Archives), and my transcription of that page. Kindest Regards, Tom Lang. Stebie9173 Posted 22 February Share Posted 22 February (edited) 43229 Michael Brogan transferred from 12th HLI (formerly No. 7812) to 1st Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) on 28-8-1916 under ACI 1499 of 1916 (a Army Council Instruction relating to the transfer of men between regiments and battalions). Brogan had had medical issues in mid 1916 and had been at the Infantry Base Depots at Etaples in July 1916 because of that. It is likely that George Rogerson was also at Etaples (for whatever reason) and transferred at the same time. Steve.
