2AM Hubert Young

I am trying to find biographical details on the above (sometimes described as Herbert Young). I have the information from Vault, Airhistory and the newspapers, but have not been able to confirm him from Ancestry. He may be the Hubert Young born c.1877 in Leigh-on-Sea, who in 1911 had been married for five years, with 1 son, living in Leigh-on-Sea and employed as a Carpenter and joiner. I have been unable to find any military details for him on Ancestry. Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Mike

If this is 'your man' this is him with his parents in the 1911 Census (image courtesy of Ancestry)

I have him as being killed near Beverley in the crashed of 36 RS Curtiss JN3 A3280 (engine 1173/WD7837) - flew into a cloud and came out in a spin

As per Mick's post, the incident was with No 36 Reserve Squadron, Beverely (although I have it as a Curtiss JN-4) on 30 April 1917; the Curtiss got into clouds and emerged in a spinning nose-dive; the machine was completely wrecked; pilot Ok & 42868 2/AM H Young killed.

Thanks all, I'd got the wrong man.

Graeme: all the materials I've seen says he was piloting the plane alone. The consensus was that he had become disoriented in the cloud.
