David_Blanchard Posted 17 February Share Posted 17 February Looking for the source of a quote, which I paraphrase ‘For every man at the sharp-end on the Western Front during the Great War (ie serving in an infantry battalion) there were another 9 who were responsible for getting him there (ie in some form of logistical/support capacity’ I came across this possibly 15 years ago It could be Gerard DeGroote, Brian Bond. Any help appreciated. David
mebu Posted 17 February Share Posted 17 February (edited) Can't remember the source, but long time ago was told 7:1,(similar ratio?) cannot say it is or isn't correct, seem to remember someone confirming this. Peter Just remembered the original source, a trusted and knowledgeable historian, but as he's sadly no longer with us, best left unnamed.
