Can anyone help me identify this lapel medal or pin? It was during the time period of WW1 in the UK.

It’s the badge of the 12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales’s).

GWF1967,  Thank you!   I am surprised about this though....as I believe he was in the King's Liverpool Regiment and before that he was in the Lancashire Hussars Yeomanry.  Would they have an association with the 12th Royal Lancers?   I'm trying to research my great grandfather. I wonder if men ever wore the pin of someone else in memory?  I know he had a brother also in the service.  Lisa

Hi Lisa,

a belated welcome to the forum.  
 It is quite possible that he was wearing it as a memorial brooch to remember a family member or close friend.
