wet255 Posted 11 February Share Posted 11 February Hi, Im looking for information on the below named officer and observer of 52 Sqd. There seems to be some confusion on how he died, accident, Tec fault, enemy action. Could anyone let me know which it is. Any other information nation would be very helpful. Also a photograph would be great. Many thanks in advance. This is being done for my book on students from Trinity College Cambridge who died during World War One. Any money I receive is going to a college charity. Lieut. Eric Foster Clark The Buffs (East Kent Regiment); attached to the Royal Flying Corps. 52 sqd Died. 1st January 1917
LDT006 Posted 11 February Share Posted 11 February There are several entries for him at: http://airhistory.org.uk/rfc/files/names_combined_C.txt Clark Lt EF 52Sq 01/01/17 Died [A82 RE8] Got into spin on return from abandoned practice artly shoot nosedived and caught fire. Lt JK Robertson+/Lt EF Clark+ His casualty card has "flying accident" https://www.rafmuseumstoryvault.org.uk/archive/clark-e.f.-eric-foster He is not listed in The Sky Their Battlefield II Do you have something else to doubt the official version? CWGC is down again and can't check there. Luc.
wet255 Posted 11 February Author Share Posted 11 February Ah I’m not the only one that’s noticed CWGC seems to be down a lot. Thank for the information. Some reports I’ve seen say KIA, others killed in an accident. Just trying to sort out the truth. Trying to find a photo proving difficult to. Thanks for making the effort

wet255 Posted 12 February Author Share Posted 12 February Fetubi, thanks very much for that. I found a ref in one of the memorial pages that they had been shot down. However it’s clear it was in fact an accident. Thanks for taking the time and trouble Nigel
