ive come across a field ambulance chit, army form w3162, Can anyone tell me what 1500 A.T.S. means? you will see it just below GSW. ive not got a baldy clue.

I’m no medical expert but may I suggest that It might possibly stand for ‘Anti-toxin Serum’ - an injection against tetanus being given to the injured man (1500 IU).

I've always thought it was 'Anti Tetanus Serum'. Given as a matter of course to all wounded. Normally seen as 500 units.

Not so much of it being a head wound, but because it would have been a dirty wound, contaminated with soil or mud in which the spores of Clostridium tetani, the causative organism dwells.
