domwalsh Posted 5 February Share Posted 5 February (edited) I may have finally solved a long-standing query. I have a nice group of medals to Surgeon Henry COLSON RN, who was attached to the 4th Battalion Royal Marines during the Zeebrugge Raid. I have long had a suspicion that he left the Vindictive during the raid to tend to the wounded on the Mole but the only evidence I had was a brief mention in an inconclusive report. Anyway, what must be 20 years later, I have found a cutting that seems pretty certain: it's from the Liverpool Daily Echo 27/4/1918. The spelling of his name may have got in the way of my search. Got there in the end! Edited 5 February by domwalsh
seaJane Posted 5 February Share Posted 5 February That's excellent news, Dom! Pity we didn't know it for our JRNMS article. I cannot remember whether the other surgeon's name was definitely Glegg (as per cutting above) or Clegg? (While I am in touch - have you seen my DM of a few weeks ago?) seaJane
domwalsh Posted 5 February Author Share Posted 5 February It was Glegg, so that one was right. I haven't. I will search for it now. Dom
