eckky Posted 4 February Share Posted 4 February Hello , A little help would be appreciated about the wifes grandfather. He was born 1900 and was in the RAF? but cant find anything else about him. There is a set of wings , RAF type, RAF buttons and a students work book with notes about about aero engines etc. The family says he was in the airforce in the first war and flew aeroplanes with radios and maybe did spotting for artillery . Cant find anything at all about his rank, service records. I wonder if WW1 ended before he finished his training. He was out by 1920. Any clues about how I could find out more ? eckky Posted 5 February Author Share Posted 5 February Thanks Steve , Thats him , how or where did you find him ? I even looked in medal rolls etc ,but there was no mention of him in any records I could find. Would he have been entitled to any medals? I'm assuming he was too late for action and maybe hadn't served long enough and it was probably that they were getting rid of pilots as the war was over. In 1921 he was back home according to the Census Is there any way I could find any more details .
