domwalsh Posted 1 February Share Posted 1 February (edited) Courtesy of seaJane I was reading about some of the brave acts of the RM Medical Unit during the landings at Gallipoli. One of the more unusual recommendations , for Anzac Cove, was written by A. F. FLEMING, Staff Surgeon R.N., Officer Commanding. lst Field Ambulance R.N. Division. "I particularly noticed.... S. 3081 Corporal Hiney, who acted as cook preparing Bovril and hot drinks for the wounded, had to carry out his work in a very exposed position. I noticed that for the first three days he worked by night as well as by day." Cpl Hiney was MID for his actions. Which got me wondering what other unusual circumstances might lie behind decorations.
