I saw this online today and thought it may interest our members. The photograph has been colourised which only enhances the incredibly clear image of the French infantry company advancing through a communication trench beneath the ruins of a factory in Le Linguet on the 20th January 1916.

Thanks Gunner, that is a remarkable photograph, I'm with Wilts on this one. The only Le Linguet I can find is just to the east of Reims between the D151 and the A34 which seems plausible....

Excellent photo. But what exactly is the revetement made of? What are those brick-like red objects on the left?
