Niko Posted 25 January Share Posted 25 January (edited) During the search for the faces of the Schoonselhof, one of a victim of the Royal Naval Division in Antwerp in 1914 was also discovered. This person is Private P. Benford, RMLI, Portsmouth Battalion. More than likely he was killed during the retreat of the Marine Brigade from Lier on October 6, 1914, on or near the Provinciesteenweg. He is buried at the Schoonselhof, Plot IIa, grave 1. It is very rare that a 'new' face emerges from the victims of that forgotten expedition. Niko Posted 26 January Author Share Posted 26 January (edited) It keeps on going these days, thanks to a very good friend..... This is Marine Brant, who died of his wounds on 3 december 1914 at gent and is buried there. And as a beautiful bonus, another picture in a newspaper clipping of Lieutenant Commander Hanson! Niko Posted 6 February Author Share Posted 6 February (edited) And three more! Top to Bottom: Stride, Wood and Dungey. Sadly, both Dungey and Wood have no known grave and are commemorated on the Nieuwpoort Memorial. Edited 6 February by Niko
