Rory Reynolds Posted 17 January Share Posted 17 January I am researching Margaret Elizabeth Waring, M.B.E. whose war medals I purchased this morning. They were once in the collection of Norman (Royal Red Cross) who was a member here and posted briefly about her a while ago. In the Boer War she was a worker with the Camp Soldier's Homes and, in WWI, was a Lady Helper in France. Any info on her and her role would be most welcome. The closest I can find is a woman by that name who was born in Guernsey in 1849. Regards Rory

Two things strike me though: 1) Mention is made of a 1914 Star - the group of medals didn't come with one and I have been unable to trace any sign of one being awarded. Her Medal Index Card reflects the issue of a British War Medal and Victory Medal only. 2) If she entered the war at the age of 69 she must have been one of (if not the oldest) recipient of any medals. George Rayner Posted 18 January Share Posted 18 January It is then very odd that the medal roll only has service in France from September 1918 Source: Ancestry George
