jrivers Posted 16 January Share Posted 16 January (edited) I know this is probably not related to WWl but i have this rifle and was curious if this was a chinese or japanese rifle ? All the numbers match. I wanted to clean it but not sure about the value of the rifle and definitely dont want to ruin the value or the gun. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you. AndyBsk Posted 17 January Share Posted 17 January Should be 1937 dated on receiver top, it should be a japanese contract, sometime are kanji marking visible on sling, anyway there is small possibility this is too a chinese rifle, which was captured by Japanese. Problem is that in 1938/9 was mixture of rifles went to both countries, and this rifle was produced for CS Army as E3 lion 38 proofed but was later reused to export contract. I would certainly oil the metall parts, cleaning the barell twist. Buttstock looks like unsanded which is good.
pierssc Posted 17 January Share Posted 17 January I don't seem to be able to copy the link but if you search "vz24" on Wikipedia you find quite a bit.
