Steve1871 Posted 14 January Share Posted 14 January Just surfing, found this for sale, ad. Say WW2 combat knife made from P1888. I think just a well made machinists project from anytime in last hundred years. Looks cool. I just wonder, with all the surviving P-1888’s, Did England ever convert any 1888’s to combat knives. I really do not think this is anything more that someone’s one- off jobs. Just never seen anything quite like this
shippingsteel Posted 15 January Share Posted 15 January Nothing officially done, in my opinion. Bit of a shame actually, looks to be quite an early Mole blade ... in nice condition too. Cheers, SS
Steve1871 Posted 15 January Author Share Posted 15 January That’s what I think, thanks SS A nicely made work, but a loss of a nice condition P1888 for a collector
DisasterDog Posted 15 January Share Posted 15 January I have one that is kind of similar, forgot to get a picture this morning. Bowie-shaped blade but with intact pommel.

4thGordons Posted 15 January Share Posted 15 January (edited) At any given time there seems to be 2 or 3 of these "P1888 converted to fighting knives" for sale on eBay in the US. They are done with a range of skill/levels of alteration. It suggests to me that at some point in the past P1888s must have been widely and cheaply available in the US. So far I have resisted......... Chris Ps I just had a look there is at least one listed now but the seller is asking more than $580! (and this is 35% off offer!)
