Remembered Today:

Trade Badge

OLD ROBIN HOOD

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

A friend of mine recently acquired a bundle of identical badges.  They were described as being a Farriers

trade badge, I think not. They look to me like Harness and Saddle maker.  I think that they are WW1

but am not 100% sure. What do you good people think?

Old Robin Hood.

Harness and Saddlemaker was what I was informed.

I believe a farriers badge is a horseshoe?

I can't speak to the period/age of the particular examples you have.

Yes it’s the badge for equestrian leather work.

First used as a collar makers badge for artillery if I recall correctly, it subsequently became saddler, saddletree maker and harness maker.  The terms used dependant upon the trade description (name) within the corps that the soldier served in.
